Product Description

A kitchen knife of simple beauty, handle and blade crafted from component materials by the same hand. Upon request. Certainly not an off-the-shelf acquisition.

Kurogane Workshop is nestled by a free-flowing natural river, in natural woodland, at the quiet end of Japan's fourth-largest island. Master craftsman Nobuya Hayashi invites visitors from around Japan and around the world to this woodland workspace to experience knife-making first hand, and when not conducting these adult education courses is wholly absorbed in fulfilling a steady flow of knife requests that he meets at his own pace.

Harried he is not, partly due to his rejection of dealers who wish to place large orders with Kurogane Workshop with an eye for maximum profit. Hayashi san far prefers the one-to-one transaction based on personal connection and patience.

There will be a wait for this knife, and in the interim you can plan your trip to the Shimanto River region and Kurogane Workshop. Hayashi san would love to welcome you.
