Hayashida Hamono / Nagasaki

Hayashida Hamono is one of three smithies in Matsubara-cho, itself one of three centres for the production of edge tools in Nagasaki prefecture (the others being Shimabara and Kayaki-cho). Local forging traditions go back a long way.

Time marches on and with the new generation of the Hayashida family now active, company production capacity has increased considerably. As a result the company has expanded their product range beyond the edge tools for their traditional rural customer base and into the home with a selection of handsomely crafted kitchen knives.
