7.5 sun Tanebasami (22.7cm total length) are sewing scissors, perfect for fabrics and pattern-cutting. In years past they were used when sewing kimonos, which requires long, straight pattern cuts. They have a timeless design and they cut all fabrics wonderfully well.

Paulownia is a light, sustainable wood often used presentation boxes in Japan. It has a lovely grain and ages very nicely. Tanebasami gift boxes are heirloom quality and are printed with the Japanese kanji characters for 'hon-tanebasami', meaning 'genuine Tanegashima scissors'.
