Product Description

Now why are most nakiri knives 165mm, you might ask. I need something longer. I want something shorter.

We're here to help. Here's a shorter one. For those tasks and modest meals when 140mm is really enough

Back to the question - why are nakiri knives most commonly 165mm? Well it relates to the breadth of Chinese thumbs of long ago, which gave rise to the measure of 'sun'. You can read a bit more about that here. 165mm is 5.5 sun, a traditional length that works for most users and most workspaces most of the time.

But that doesn't mean you have to stick with it. 140mm is a modern measure! A length that could be ideal for an older user, when wrist strength may be a factor in cutting enjoyment. A not-pointy blade ideal for travel and outings. A nice supplementary cutter.

Thank you, Miwa san, for thinking outside the box.
