- Toyonaga Hamono Fuguhiki 300mm left-handed
Product Description
There's a proverb that goes, I want to eat fugu, but I don't want to die. It's about living life to the fullest and not holding back. Sure, you can die if you eat fugu (like a friend's dear uncle), but you can't go through life only wanting to do stuff and never doing it, because that's not living. That's our way of telling you that if you want to buy this knife, you should.
There's not much we can tell you that our photos can't. Toyonaga Hamono employs quality materials, the whole package is beautifully shaped, sharpened and finished.
The sculpted choil is highly polished for comfort; the bevelled spine, too, is polished to a near mirror finish. The magnolia and horn handle is protected against water ingress.
In hand it feels almost like it would float if you let it go. There are yanagiba sashimi knives that weigh in at almost double its 125g/4.4oz. That's not boosting one over the other, it's simply an observation on the nature of the fuguhiki in general and this one in particular. It is a light knife and a comparatively light fuguhiki for this length.
