近年、耳にする事が増えてきた「サスティナブル」ですが、その領域は今や鍛冶屋にまで進出しています。 大量生産、大量消費が当たり前になっている現代、物を長く使うといった古き良き日本の風習は風化され、結果として環境破壊など世界的に問題視されていることに大きく悪影響を与えているのです。 そのようななか、せめて私たちだけでもと地域に密着し、サスティナブルな取り組みを行われている企業があります。 それが川﨑鍛冶屋です。 川﨑鍛冶屋は刃物や鍬などの生産をはじめ、修理を行い、長く使い続けることに重きを置いた活動をされています。 しかし、ただ生産や修理を行うのではなく、特徴的なのは新たに刃物を作る際に使う材料。 川﨑鍛冶屋ではオイスターナイフなど一部の商品はリサイクルの材料を使用して製造しているのです。 他社で不必要になった材料に再度命を吹き込む、まさに職人によるサスティナブルな取り組みでした。 In recent years, we have been hearing more and more about "sustainability," and now the field has expanded to include blacksmithing. Kawazaki Blacksmith produces knives, hoes, etc., and also repairs them, focusing on keeping them in use for a long time. However, instead of just producing and repairing knives, what is unique about them is the materials they use to make new knives. Kawazaki Blacksmith uses recycled materials to manufacture some of their products, such as oyster knives.
