Product Description
This nakiri has a trick up its sleeve. Actually, up its handle. A stainless trick.
Hand-forged nakiri knives are great. They can work very hard over many years and over the decades they can be sharpened so many times that they gradually morph into a different knife, becoming a unique and highly personal item.
Imagine, just imagine then the tearful, sinking feeling you'd experience if, one day many years from now, the blade of your old friend came away from the handle. In the middle of making dinner. Rust inside the handle can do that.
The stainless tang on Nakamura san's black-forged nakiri makes this an unlikely scenario. Look at our product photos above and you'll see a distinct material line above the choil that shows the transition from very thin blade to some chunky stainless goodness. Skilled smithing. Compassionate smithing.
