Product Description
Oh. My. Lord. For its reasonably modest length this is one monster of a deba. Not delicate. At all.
But beautiful in its own way. We really like the finish of the blade, which is beautifully done.
Dare we say it, this is a deba suitable for hacking. The blade has such weight that Kuwahara san has allowed the tang to protrude from the handle to secure it forever - look closely at the handle image above to see what we mean. No risk whatsoever of the blade flying off the handle on the downswing.
This knife and other examples in stock in Kayaki-cho were forged some time ago and in some ways their age is evident. There's oxidisation on the not-important bits. If we were to own this knife we'd spend a bit of time cleaning it up, it could use a little work on the edge and a little light polishing here and there.
Worth the effort we think. Big, black-forged, double-bevel deba knives are not that easy to find, and certainly not at this price.
